Introducing Jenny Holmes: The Interdimensional Investigator
A New Dimension in Mystery and Adventure
I am incredibly excited to share that my new book, Jenny Holmes the Interdimensional Investigator, is now available on Amazon in both paperback and Kindle formats!
This project has been a long journey, one filled with inspiration, creativity, and plenty of challenges. As a writer, it’s always a thrilling moment when you can finally share your work with the world, but it also brings the opportunity to reflect on how the story came together.
In this blog, I’ll answer some of the most common questions I’ve been getting about the book—what inspired it, how the idea came to life, and what I hope readers will take away from it.
What inspired you to write Jenny Holmes the Interdimensional Investigator?
It all started with my love for detective stories. Growing up, I devoured classic mystery novels, but I also grew up watching crime shows like Criminal Minds, Law and Order SVU, and BONES. These shows had a huge impact on me, shaping my appreciation for complex investigations and multi-layered characters. The idea of solving the unsolvable cases, understanding the psychology of the criminals, and the intricacies of the criminal justice system fascinated me.
Alongside these crime dramas, I was also a huge fan of Steven Moffat’s Sherlock and Doctor Who on BBC One. Doctor Who, in particular, was a major inspiration. The idea of a time-travelling character who could visit different worlds, different time periods, and constantly face new challenges opened up an entirely new realm of possibilities for storytelling. The sense of mystery and the endless adventure on Doctor Who became a cornerstone for my own writing. The concept of exploring not just different locations, but entire dimensions, resonated with me deeply.
One day, I thought, what if these two genres—detective stories and sci-fi—could be combined? What if a detective didn’t just solve crimes in one city or country, but across countless dimensions? That’s when the concept of Jenny Holmes was born. I wanted to create a protagonist who could solve mysteries not just in one world, but across many, each with its own rules and realities. The idea of interdimensional crime-fighting was just too exciting to pass up!
How did you come up with the character of Jenny Holmes?
Jenny is a blend of the classic detective archetype and a modern, strong female lead. I wanted her to be sharp, intuitive, and capable of solving the most complex mysteries—but also to have depth. Jenny isn’t perfect. She has her flaws, her vulnerabilities, and personal struggles. I wanted her to feel real to readers, even though she’s operating in worlds that are far beyond our own.
What makes Jenny unique is that she’s not just a detective; she’s an investigator across multiple dimensions. Her job requires not only logical deduction but also the ability to adapt to different worlds, each with its own challenges. Imagine solving a crime in a universe where time doesn’t move in a linear fashion, or one where the laws of physics are entirely different from our own. Jenny has to be resourceful, intelligent, and fearless. But she also has to deal with the emotional toll of never knowing what world she’ll end up in next.
I think of Jenny as someone who feels like a modern-day yet futuristic Sherlock Holmes, but with a twist. She’s driven, yet haunted by the consequences of her travels. She’s constantly questioning herself, which makes her a bit more relatable, even as she’s solving crimes across universes.
What was the most challenging part of writing this book?
There were a few major challenges, but the one that stands out the most is crafting the multiple dimensions in a way that feels consistent and grounded. When you’re writing a book about alternate realities, the possibilities are endless, and that can be overwhelming. At first, it was easy to get carried away with the sheer number of different worlds I could create. But I had to keep reminding myself that each world needed its own set of rules—rules that were consistent throughout the story.
For example, one dimension in Jenny Holmes may have a society where emotions are suppressed, and people communicate only through logic. Another dimension might be a utopia where technology has solved all human problems, but at a cost. Each world needed its own culture, its own conflicts, and its own logic. Balancing all of these elements while maintaining a coherent plot was definitely a challenge, but it also made the story more exciting to write.
Another challenge was making sure Jenny’s personal journey felt as compelling as the interdimensional mysteries. It’s easy to get caught up in the cool sci-fi aspects, but I wanted to ensure that Jenny’s emotional and psychological growth was just as important as the cases she was solving.
How did you come up with the different dimensions Jenny explores?
Each dimension in Jenny Holmes serves a specific narrative purpose. I didn’t want them to just be quirky, one-off worlds for the sake of fun. Each world has a direct impact on Jenny’s investigation, and often, the clues she uncovers lead her to a deeper understanding of herself and her mission.
I spent a lot of time thinking about what makes each dimension unique, and how they would challenge Jenny as an investigator. Jenny’s ability to adapt and navigate these strange worlds is what keeps the story fresh and engaging. But beyond the plot, I also wanted to explore how these different dimensions reflect different aspects of human nature. Some dimensions are utopian, where everything is seemingly perfect but beneath the surface, something sinister is at work. Others are dystopian, where chaos reigns, and yet there are sparks of hope that Jenny must try to protect. The dimensions are meant to ask deeper philosophical questions about society, technology, and what it means to be human.
What can readers expect from Jenny Holmes the Interdimensional Investigator?
Readers can expect a thrilling, fast-paced adventure with plenty of twists and turns. But more than just a series of interdimensional mysteries, this book is about discovery—both of the strange worlds Jenny visits and of herself. She’s faced with not only solving cases but also confronting her own past, her fears, and her role in the larger, multiversal puzzle.
The book blends traditional detective story elements with high-concept sci-fi, creating something that feels both familiar and completely new. If you’re a fan of mysteries, interdimensional travel, or complex female protagonists, you’re in for a treat.
What do you hope readers take away from this book?
At its core, Jenny Holmes is about the search for truth—about solving mysteries, sure, but also about understanding the self. Jenny’s journey is about confronting difficult questions and facing the unknown, both in the worlds she explores and in her own life. The emotional depth of the story is as important as the action, and I hope readers will connect with Jenny on that level.
Ultimately, I want readers to feel like they’ve gone on an adventure. I want them to think about what might lie beyond the world they know, and what it means to truly discover something new. And of course, I want them to enjoy the thrill of watching Jenny solve complex, interdimensional crimes!

Jenny Holmes the Interdimensional Investigator is just the beginning.
