Doctor who season one trailer #2

And it’s finally here, the second trailer to Doctor Who, Season One! How exciting.

“You ready for this?”

Get ready for an exciting journey through time and space as we dive into the highly anticipated new series of Doctor Who. The recent release of the trailer for the upcoming season has left fans buzzing with anticipation. In this article, I will be taking a look at the trailer and discussing my thoughts on what viewers can expect from the latest installment of this beloved series.

Now, let’s take a closer look at this beauty of a trailer!

The new Doctor Who trailer provides a sneak peek into the captivating adventures that await viewers starting in May 2024. The visuals are stunning, the dialogue is witty, and the glimpses of intense action are sure to leave fans on the edge of their seats. From the haunting score to the familiar faces of the Doctor and their companions, this trailer successfully builds excitement for what’s to come.

And here there’s no surprise (because we already knew), but welcome back UNIT! I must admit, I am looking forward to seeing Kate Lethbridge-Stewart return to our screens. And, while we’re on the subject, does anyone else agree how brilliant her casting is? She genuinely looks as though she is related to her on-screen dad, Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart. I mean, look!

Oh, and let’s not forget about the Doctor’s very awesome hairdo! BRING ON DISCO WHO!

“GIVE ME THE LOVING!”

Welcome back, Rose Noble! I wonder if Donna will make a cameo at all, seeing as she was given a job by Kate Stewart herself in the 60th special, The Giggle . . .

So, back to the trailer. The Doctor returns to wearing leather . . . Ninth Doctor, anyone?

Also . . . anti-mavity in the TARDIS looks hella fun!

One of the key aspects of any new Doctor Who season is how well it captures the essence of the show while still pushing boundaries and offering fresh storylines. Based on the trailer, it seems evident that the upcoming series will continue to explore the themes of friendship, wit, and bravery that have made Doctor Who a cherished favourite among fans worldwide. This dedication to the show’s core values should undoubtedly please long-time followers.

While the trailer pays homage to the show’s rich history, it also presents intriguing new elements that are sure to spark curiosity. Viewers can look forward to encountering fresh villains, exploring different locations, and witnessing the ongoing evolution of the Doctor’s character. The seamless integration of these new elements, as hinted at in the trailer, promises to add depth and excitement to the narrative.

With the images above (taken from the trailer, duh!), we can not only confirm the return of Ruby’s mother, but we now know that she will become aware of aliens and time and space travel, as she is stood inside UNIT Headquarters holding onto her daughter. But could this spell trouble for the loving duo? After all, family and the Doctor doesn’t usually end happily . . . *cough* Rose Tyler *cough*

Now, this one has me stumped. Has the TARDIS been abandoned? Is it decaying? You see, in this new trailer, the Doctor and Ruby are seen exiting the TARDIS on a cliff edge, wraped up due to the bitterly cold air. Now look at the previous trailer. There sits the TARDIS on a cliff edge, and she doesn’t look in pristine shape. She looks old, worn out, and abandoned. Now, obviously I can be completely wrong, but we’re all guessing here, and that’s the fun of it, the big build up to answers. So, what do you think of the TARDIS’s appearance?

Moving on . . .

Anyone else find the talking baby a bit creepy? Also, I am led to wonder . . . so we know who this baby is? Because he says “it’s you . . .”, to whom I presume he is referencing the Doctor and his companym which gets me wondering . . . are fully grown adults being reverted back into babies . . . in space? I mean, the episode is called Space Babies, so anything is possible . . . right?

Yeah, totally weird.

So, from weird to utterly terrifying, let’s have a look at this new creature:

Now, I believe this creature may be in the first episode of the season, Space Babies, because in the title reveal teasers, a shadow that looks eerily like this creature appears on the wall, and the wall is inscribed with two words . . . Space Babies. So, yeah, that’s my theory. A monster with talking babies . . . sounds insane! And I am so ready for it!

Now, knowing the titles of the new episodes brings me to wonder if these two scenes are related to The Legend of Ruby Sunday and Empire of Death. It also makes me wonder if they are a two-part story and also link to the scene where pedestrians are running through a street in London (iconic red bus) as a massive dust cloud consumes them, almost like a building has collapsed. Is it the end of the world?

The Doctor talks about preventing the end of the world . . . could this be Ruby’s purpose? Was she born to save us? Like Donna was destined to become the DoctorDonna? Who knows? (Well, RTD knows, that’s for sure!).

Our favourite Time Lord is also heard threatening to turn an entire battlefield to dust, and he says so very angrily. Has something happened to Ruby in the sense where Clara Oswald died so the Doctor went back to Gallifrey to force another Time Lord into regenerating just to save her life? It makes you wonder; just how far will the Doctor go to save his freinds? After all, he promised Ruby’s mother he would keep her safe . . . but has he ever managed to keep a promise that big?

Now, I do believe in a rumour that has been going around for quite a while now, one where some fans are excited, while others . . . not so much. And that is a musical episode. Now, we know we’re visiting the Beatles, and we know Jinkx Monsoon‘s villain is music related due to the outfit and the musical notes surrounding Ruby, and now, in the same era that all seems to take place in, the trailer offers us more hints to a musical episode . . . take a look at the images below:

As you can see, we have a singing and dancing Doctor on stage, and then we have a group performing a dance in the rain . . . inside . . . then (the clip is hard to get clear because of the movement and how quick it is on screen), we see Ruby also dressed up in the fashion of the Beatles’ era, DANCING! Now, the question is, are they dancing and singing voluntarily? Or is something more sinister at play? Like when the witches in Hocus Pocus put a spell on the crowd so they would dance until they died . . . could this be something just as gruesome? Or just a bit of fun in the middle of the episode to break it up a bit? I wonder . . .

“And that’s just the beginning . . .”

In summary, the new Doctor Who trailer for the upcoming series starting in May 2024 has left me brimming with excitement. Its visually stunning scenes, strong dialogue, and carefully crafted storytelling are a testament to the dedication of all those involved in the production. While the trailer offers tantalizing glimpses into what’s to come, it does an excellent job of keeping major plot points under wraps. As viewers eagerly count down the days until the premiere, one thing is certain: Doctor Who is set to deliver yet another thrilling journey through time and space.
